This website is created to educate people who use Remit2india to transfer money to India on basis of exchange rate advertised on their website.
Remit2India no wonder has highest exchange rate advertised in market. Anybody who searches for better rate can fall prey to them. When I fell in trap I ran a search on Google (remit2India fraud) and was overwhelmed to find numerous people with similar issues looking ways to raise voice against them.
So here is my experience with them
Jan 20st 2008
Spoke to Remit2India and was assured highest level of customer service and exchange rate. Sameer Sonone (Relationship Officer) sent me an email (sameers@timesfinancialservices.com )with his personal cellphone no in India +91 9224246903.
Same day I initiated a transaction of $10200 opening an account entering my Bank Account details. Next thing I know is they put a hold on my transaction as the Ach Bank account verification needs to be done. I understand bank Account verification needs to be done but why would they debit by bank account for $10200 before the verification is completed.

Remit2india debited my account on 23rd 6:30am for $10200 along with small debit and credit transaction meant for verification. My transaction still remains on hold and they have my money. I called them to give the small debit and credit amount to verify the bank account and was told I cannot do it on phone and have to do it online. They also told me the link to verify account will show up in next 12 hours. I was not able to see the link for another 48hrs to verify my account on website and until than rates kept falling in last five days.

The exchange rate fell from Rs39.46 to RS 39.19 on 25th on Remit2India website. When I saw the amount given to me I found I was given Rs39.16 which was never advertised on website in last five days. So I called them and was told to send email at info@remit2india.com . Today is 28th and I am still waiting on reply.
Even if they gave me Friday rate why they gave Rs39.16 when it was advertised Rs39.19 on their website.
It’s a real con job.
First why would they debit $10200 without going through bank verification? They should inform first timers that they will hold money until verification is completed or should not debit.
Secondly Exchange rate given at the end is not what is promised on their website.

In my views you should avoid crooks like Remit2India and raise voice by complaining about them.
Best Way to transfer if seeking higher rate
Register with State Bank of India to remit money. Watch for few days exchange rate of SBI at http://statebank.com/RemittanceServiceIndMaster2.asp
The day you see good rate issue a Certified check from your local bank (Cost upto $10) and drop at SBI Branch near you. If you live far from them than you can do wire transfer online to get same day rate. You may do so with ICICI too. The cost of certified check is justified when you consider the transfer rate fluctuation and loss of interest in ACH.
I would appreciate if somebody can help design this site in better way. You will be doing your part in helping our Indian community. If needed I may start bulletin forum for discussions. Please send your comments at info@remit2indiafraud.com
